According to a report from Page Six, Matt Lauer’s daughter, Romy, deleted the footage of his father on her TikTok account after yet another woman came out of the woodwork to accuse him of sexual misconduct, except this time, the allegation was more severe. Mr. Lauer has been accused of rape by a new woman.
As it was previously reported, Lauer appeared on the new social media platform in several lighthearted recordings, one featuring lip-syncing, as well as dancing, including to “Big Fun” from Heathers: The Musical, as well as “Hot Shower” from Chance The Rapper.
Since then, multiple publications reported that Romy has deleted the videos following the new allegations against her father. Reported first by Variety, the former NBC news staff member, Brooke Nevils, accused Matt of anally raping her during the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
In a letter released, Lauer addressed the new accusations, stating that it wasn’t true, including other allegations, stating that much of the claims were either old stories with new twists on them or falsehoods altogether. The ex-NBC anchor stated her claims were merely part of a promotional effort to sell her book.
“It’s outrageous,” Mr. Lauer wrote in his letter. Matt stated that now he has to protect his children, “and it is now with their full support I say ‘enough.'” As it was previously reported, Matt was fired from his role on NBC’s Today show after unearthed sexual misconduct allegations.
Additionally, NBC has been accused of sweeping the accusations under the rug for the sake of protecting their brand and their image, however, they have denied engaging in a cover-up. The new allegation was revealed by Ronan Farrow in his new book, Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators.
Back in July of 2019, Roque officially proceeded with the divorce papers in Suffolk County, New York. Roque’s attorney-at-law, John Teitler, said to reporters from People Magazine that the “matter had been settled.” Mr. Lauer wasn’t the only broadcasting anchor to face allegations of misconduct. Charlie Rose was also fired for inappropriate behavior toward female colleagues.
