According to a report from Vibe.com, Uncle Luke from 2 Live Crew recently came out to offer his very candid opinion on Jay-Z and his decision to work with the NFL and the Super Bowl organizers. Luke wrote, “JAY-Z you gotta fix this s**t, I’m just gonna keep it 100.”
This past week, it was revealed by multiple outlets that Shakira and Jennifer Lopez would perform together during the Super Bowl Halftime Show in Miami next year. Reportedly, a few people online took issue with the fact both entertainers were not actually black.
Uncle Luke was just one person who was displeased with the news, claiming that he was “so p*ssed right now.” In his Instagram video, Uncle Luke claimed he wanted to use a lot of “profanity,” but a lot of young kids follow him.
Reportedly, Uncle Luke was upset that the Super Bowl organizers chose two Hispanic women to perform at the Super Bowl when there is “countless African American entertainment in Miami.” He added that the committee could’ve chosen a few different people, including Rick Ross, Flo-Rida, Pitbull, as well as Trick Daddy.
According to Luke, black Americans don’t need the Super Bowl and the NFL; they need African-Americans. “Our hotels are already full, you need us,” the artist stated. He then went on to urge the 4:44 rapper to “fix it.”
During a conversation with the Miami New Times, the 58-year-old described the NFL’s decision to hire two Latina women as “a**-backward.” As it was previously reported, the NFL became the source of much controversy in the United States when Colin Kaepernick made the decision to kneel during the singing of the National Anthem in protest to police brutality.
It was arguably one of the hottest issues of the year, and many political pundits and sports commentators discussed it for months. Kapernick was later fired from his position on the team, however, he signed an endorsement deal with Nike and appeared in one of their advertisements. He later filed a lawsuit against them.
