Niecy Nash has split from her husband Jay Tucker after eight years of marriage. The actress announced the news they were calling it quits in a statement via Instagram on Wednesday.
“We believe in the beauty of truth. Always have. Our truth is that in this season of our lives, we are better friends than partners in marriage. Our union was such a gorgeous ride. And as we go our separate ways now, we feel fortunate for the love we share present tense. Thank you all out there for your support of us as a couple over the last eight years. We are grateful,” read their joint message.
The last time either Nash or Tucker shared a post regarding the other one on social media was at the beginning of this year. She shared a throwback photo of the couple on their wedding day, in a shout out post to her husband celebrating Valentine’s Day.
Nash and her soon to be ex-husband got engaged in 2010. The former Dancing With The Stars contestant gushed about her man at the time. She had been divorced for nearly three years when she got engaged to Tucker. The actress never lost hope she would find love following the end of her first marriage to Don Nash.
Tucker and Nash exchanged vows at Church Estate Vineyard in May 2011 in Malibu, California. It was an intimate ceremony with a few star-studded guests in attendance. Sherri Sheperd, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Holly Robinson Peete Brandy, and Sheryl Lee Ralph were all there to watch the couple become husband and wife.
They enjoyed a nice getaway to Anguilla for their honeymoon. The nuptials were filmed as part of a two-hour special wedding event for TLC. Nash was vocal throughout the marriage regarding how much she enjoys spending time with Tucker.
“When they see us out in the public, we are exactly the way we are in a curated life on Instagram. People think that we like each other, and that’s because we do,” the Claws star shared with Essence magazine regarding her relationship with Tucker.

Niecy Nash has ended her eight-year marriage to electrical engineer Jay Tucker. Their joint statement explains they are simply better off as friends than married. Hopefully Nash keeps the same positive outlook on love that she had when ending her first marriage.
