Jussie Smollett returned to social media last week and he just posted another comment in response to allegations he staged a hate crime. In a now-deleted post shared by self-help guru Derrick Jackson, Jussie defended his honor and reiterated he did not lie about a January hoax where Smollett is accused of hiring two men to assault him in a ploy to get a higher paycheck on the Fox series Empire.
Derrick Johnson shared a photo of Amari Allen, the student who falsely accused three white boys of assaulting her, holding her down and trying to cut off her dreadlocks. She has since admitted there was no attack and Johnson compared her “hoax” to that of Jussie Smollett’s. Jackson had initially shared a picture of Amari with the caption: “Jussie really is a trendsetter.” The image and story began to go viral and soon Jussie Smollett got wind of it.
Jussie replied to Derrick’s post with the following statement.
“With all due respect brother, y’all can clown me all you want but my story has actually never changed and I haven’t lied about a thing. Y’all can continue to be misinformed, internalized sheep, who believe what actual proven liars feed you or you can read the actual docs. Either way, Imma be alright. I know me and what happened. You don’t. So carry on. All love.”
Many were surprised to see that Jussie Smollett continues to maintain his innocence in the January attack that derailed his acting career.
The main difference between Amari Allen’s case and Jussie Smollett’s is that Amari confessed to lying. The motive for why she would say three white boys bullied her at her Christian school, held her down, called her ugly and her hair nappy, and cut off her dreadlocks while photographing the incident remains unknown.
To this day, Jussie Smollett has never said that he lied or didn’t tell the truth about what happened. Though millions believe he not only lied but staged and even rehearsed the attack.
What do you think? Do you see similarities between Jussie Smollett’s story about being attacked by MAGA supporters who shouted racial and homophobic slurs and Amari Allen’s case? Do you believe Jussie Smollett is telling the truth?
