Demi Lovato took to social media to pay tribute to her close friend, Thomas, after he tragically died of a drug overdose. Since the singer has also struggled with addiction and even suffered an overdose that almost took her life as well, the cause of death definitely made his loss even harder to accept. Demi referred to addiction as a ‘terrible disease.’
The mourning star made sure to remind her followers how important it is for everybody to show love and support to their family members and friends.
On her IG Stories, she wrote: ‘Devastated. Please hold all your loved ones tight. Tell them that they are special and you love them. Make sure they know it. RIP to my boo @sirtruss. Addiction is NO joke.. heaven gained a beautiful angel last night because of that terrible disease. I am crushed and I will always miss you @sirtruss. If you or someone you know is struggling please know it’s okay to ask for help.’
Lovato has been as open as possible with fans about her struggle with addiction.
She was in rehab a few times, has been through a few relapses and even suffered a dangerous overdose so the tragic news hits close to home.
Back in August of last year, Demi got candid about the overdose, writing on her Instagram that ‘Ths illness is not something that disappears or just fades with time. It’s something I must continue to overcome and haven’t done yet. I want to thank God for keeping me alive. To my fans, I’m forever grateful for all your love and support throughout this week and beyond.’
She had been sober for years before her relapse and overdose!
