Cousin Amy Duggar and her husband Dillon King are officially parents. The young couple welcomed their son Daxton Ryan King on Wednesday, October 9th, and the Counting On star says that he is “absolute perfection.”
On Wednesday morning, Duggar posted a fun pic on Instagram of her and her husband heading to the hospital, and in the caption she told her fans, “Brb…we’re gonna go be parents now.” The 33-year-old explained that her doctor told her there was an 85 percent chance of an “emergency situation” and she also has a small frame, and those two things led to her scheduling a Cesarean to be on the safe side.
Duggar was ready for the negative comments about her decision, but she said that she had to do what was best for her body and the health of her son.
“I’m trying to relax, and not worry! But I’ve never had surgery before, I’ve never even stayed in a hospital before, so I’m just a ball of nerves,” wrote Duggar.
Both Jill Duggar and Anna Duggar commented on the post, sending messages of love and support. Anna wrote that she was praying for a safe delivery and quick recovery for Cousin Amy, while Jill added that Amy and Dillon were amazing, and she can’t wait to meet their little boy.
When Daxton Ryan arrived, he ended up weighing seven pounds and eight ounces, and he is 20 inches long. Photographer Loren Bullard – who was on hand to document the life-changing day – said it was a “smooth and easy delivery.” She added that both Amy and Daxton are great and healthy.
Amy and Dillon announced their pregnancy in April amid a massive Duggar baby boom. And, in June, they revealed they were having a boy which was something Amy had “always wanted.”
The couple says they landed on the name Daxton Ryan because all of the names on the King side of the family start with the letter “D.” They wanted a name that was a little different, and they eventually found Dax, which turned into Daxton. And, they chose Ryan as the middle name because it means “little king.”
“He’s going to come out wearing sunglasses, like, ‘What’s up, I’m Dax!’ ” Amy told People Magazine this summer. “He’s going to have a cool style.”
The new season of Counting On premieres Tuesday, October 15th on TLC.
